It came to pass that we needed to move yards, the main reason being that Camel needed to get his hooves on dry ground.
The wet lands have made his hooves go soft and then it collapsed. NOT a great start to the winter months, so after a search we found a wonderful yard. The amazing thing was that we all moved and a good friend of ours, Tinka also moved her horse there.
So now we have a new yard, new places to explore and a great arena to work in...
YAY! Let the schooling begin!

Jigsaw puzzles were very much a part of my youth on rainy afternoons. The earliest puzzles I remember had merely a dozen pieces, but ah, the sense of accomplishment
This year, I dug out a puzzle that I had been given as a present and decided to build on it during the cold evenings, with the help of Michael, the gas heater and a cat or two on top of the puzzle, we completed it. Ah.. again, that sense of accomplishment!

Last year I blogged about planting a Lemon tree. I am excited to report that my lovely lemon tree has produced 5 beautiful Lemons. I have been watching them grow in size, from the tiny dark green bulb to a nice size yellow lemon. So... for my first ever Organic Lemons, I picked two yellow ones and made it into a sweet Lemon Meringue pie! What a treat that was! This was also the first time I had ever made a lemon meringue; after searching for a blonde proof recipe on the internet, with easy to follow guide. I managed wip up a meringue of note. Here it is…

I received this beautiful picture of my nephew having fun! He is 2 and a half now and look at all his teeth... what a lovely Colgate smile!!

It has been bitterly cold lately, so I don’t blame him, wanting to put on the warmest beanie in town. Let’s hope he doesn’t decide to grow dreadlocks.

Snow peaked mountains are amazing to see! I was at work, when I bravely decided to stand outside, and there it was…. Our first snow fall for 2010.
It was an awesome site to see; the mountains around Stellenbosch have frosting on them!

Winter seemed to arrive a little early in Cape Town, so out come the blankets and heaters.
The surroundings are green and lush, the rivers are full and as for the farm… well… that’s just mud. The air is crisp and calls for hot chocolate and movies.

With the winter solstice today, I can’t wait for summer to return.

Michael had the chance to go watch the soccer in the new Green Point Stadium; it was Portugal vs North Korea. The guys were all rooting for Portugal. The biggest win in the world cup soccer so far! 7-0 A huge win for the Portuguese. He sent me some pictures via cell.

I can’t really say much as I was not there, but here are the pictures. Ayoba!!

It’s the start of winter here, and for those in the know… it’s cold. No more lazy sunshine days out on the deck, splashing around in the pool. It is weather for Soup and scarves.
A typical farm day will mean putting on the thickest socks and Wellies. We haven’t had the snow yet, but that’s around the corner…
Cape Town has a wet winter, it rains a lot. I think the indoor Braai concept started in Cape Town, Not only do we have to contend with rain, we have the lovely South Easter wind as well. So most people that enjoy their Braai’s, have built them inside the house.
Our braai is outside, along with our pool… So for now, they are winter ornaments.
As for the next few weeks in winter, I am going to be reminiscing about lying on the deck – sipping my favorite smoothie.

Last week was birthday week for my friend Claire and I, our husbands decided to spoil us with a pre birthday lunch on a wine farm.
What a wonderful day we had, the food was out of this world, the setting was posh but rustic and the weather was great! We got to our table, the napkins were placed on our laps and the start of a wonderful lunch began. The first thing that got the big thumbs up from me was the dessert section… they serve Crème Brulee.
That is my all time favorite! So armed with the knowledge that dessert will be had, I decided not to have a starter as I needed space in my tummy for later.
Everyone tucked in to a divine meal, with the best for last. I was smiling ear to ear.

When I was a young girl, I had to attend aftercare. One of my fondest memories is the After school care and crèche called “Old Oak”. It is nestled in the suburb of Durbanville, and it was surrounded by Oak Trees. Back then they had a petting zoo, and all sorts of activities to keep our young minds entertained. The Oak trees were a hit, as they were tall and huge and carried a mystery about them. Winter has arrived, the Oak trees around me have grown there acorns, and Oak’s leaves have started turning into the most beautiful autumn colours I have ever seen.Down at the farm, the squirrels are busy collecting and rushing around for food, up and down these old oak trees. I often wonder what tales these trees would tell, as they have been around for that seems like forever. The stories at the crèche would be like the old wise owl and his old friend, the Oak tree, watching down at the children as they play and get up to mischief. I should know… As every time I see and smell the Oak trees, I am transported to those beautiful days.
